What You’ll Need

Ingredients

  • 2-4 chicken breast (depending on the size)
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 1 1/2 cup cabbage shredded
  • 2-3 green onions
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water

Equipment I Used

How to Make It

Prepare the ingredients

Begin by prepping all your ingredients. Slice the green onions, keeping the white bulb separate from the green stalks, which will be used as a garnish. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces. Shred the cabbage, and chop the ginger and garlic finely for easy cooking.

Cook the chicken

Heat 1 tablespoon of avocado oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Once done, remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.

Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and green onions

In the same skillet, add the white parts of the green onions, along with the chopped ginger and garlic. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes over medium-high heat, until fragrant and lightly browned.

Cook the cabbage

Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and stir-fry over high heat for 2 minutes, or until the cabbage begins to soften and reduce in volume. Stir continuously for even cooking.

Add soy sauce and water

Pour the soy sauce and ¼ cup of water over the cabbage, stirring to combine. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the water evaporates and the cabbage is cooked through.

Finish and garnish

Once the cabbage is crisp-tender and the liquid has dissolved, remove from the heat. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, toss everything together, and garnish with the green parts of the sliced green onions, sesame seeds, sesame oil, and/or red pepper flakes (optional).
