What You’ll Need

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup White Basmati Rice
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tbsp Oil (I use Avocado)
  • 2 Cups of Water
  • Spices (I use Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and salt. About 1/4 tsp of each)

Equipment I Used

How to Make It

Preheat the Oven

Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the rice.

Prepare the Rice

Take 1 cup of white Basmati rice and pour it into a baking dish. Make sure the dish is large enough to accommodate the rice and water with some room to spare (I use an 8×8 baking dish).

In a small saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of oil (I recommend avocado, but you can use your preferred oil). Place the saucepan over medium heat and allow the butter to melt completely. Stir occasionally to combine the butter and oil.

Mix Rice with Butter, Oil, and Spices

Sprinkle your desired spices over the rice and mix well to distribute them evenly. I like to use onion powder, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt, but feel free to customize with your favorite seasonings.

Once the butter is melted and combined with the oil, pour the mixture over the rice in the baking dish. Stir the rice thoroughly to ensure each grain is well-coated with the butter and oil. This will help the rice cook evenly and prevent it from sticking.

Boil the Water

In a separate pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, carefully pour it over the rice in the baking dish. Stir the mixture well to ensure the rice, spices, and water are fully combined.

Cover and Bake

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to trap the steam and moisture. I recommend using heavy-duty foil for a better seal and improved results. Place the covered dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. During this time, the rice will absorb the water and cook to perfection.

Let the Rice Rest

After 30 minutes, remove the baking dish from the oven, but keep it covered with the aluminum foil. Let the rice rest for an additional 10 minutes. This step allows the rice to finish cooking and helps achieve a light, fluffy texture.

After the resting period, remove the aluminum foil and fluff the rice gently with a fork. Your perfectly cooked oven rice is now ready to serve! Enjoy it as a side dish or as a base for your favorite meals.
